Cathedral Grove
“Cathedral Grove” is a magnificent park on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada, containing some of the oldest and largest trees in the world. It is the towering, majestic pillars of these ancient giants and the quiet serenity of this place that inspired this music. Evocative and impressionistic in nature, Robert Buckley’s writing depicts the richness of the colors and textures, and the diffused light shining through the canopy of leaves above. At times hauntingly lyrical, and other times prayer-like and reverent, but always filled with awe and beauty. (Includes optional part for acoustic guitar or harp). Dreamcatcher
The inspiration for this unique composition came from the charming Iroquois folk melody, Ho Ho Watanay and the ancient Ojibwe legend of the dreamcatcher. It was believed that the magical webs of the dreamcatcher would filter out all bad dreams and only allow good thoughts to enter the mind. Using evocative percussion effects, colorful orchestration and harmonies, Dreamcatcher sounds much more impressive and advanced than its grade level would suggest. Definitely a piece that will bring a different flavor to any concert and excite the imagination! Dur: 2:45SKU: HL04004723 -

Echoes of the Silent
In 1917 two ships collided in the harbor of Halifax, Canada. The resulting explosion devastated most of the city. Excerpts from The Rite of Spring
The premier performance of The Rite of Spring in 1913 is the stuff of legend. There was disagreement among the people who attendedas to whether it was the music or the choreography that caused the near-riot in the audience. Since then The Rite has been performed regularly and is considered to be one of the most influential works of the 20th century, laying the basis for modern jazz, film music and even heavy metal. It’s all here: the driving rhythms, haunting Russian folk melodies, brilliant scoring, crunching harmonies and the epic drama! The intention with this arrangement for band was to stay as true as possible to the original and choose the sections that would work well in this context. Sure to become a valued and important addition to the wind band repertoire! Dur: 6:30SKU: HL04004206 -

Flying Colors Third Movement of A Tribute to Arthur Delamont
Imagine a band far off in the distance marching toward you – soft at first, the music becomes louder and louder; the red capes of the band sway in the wind, getting closer and closer. It was this image that inspired Flying Colors. Famed bandmaster Arthur Delamont always programmed a march in his concerts, and the hallmark of his band was their red capes. The work begins very softly with a distant snare drum beat. The trumpets enter quietly with the melody, and with each new melodic entry the music grows and intensifies to a roaring finish. This is a fresh new take on a march, and is sure to please players and audiences alike! Flying Colors is the third movement of A Tribute to Arthur Delamont and was commissioned by the West Vancouver Youth Band. Dur: 3:10SKU: HL04004199 -

Free Running
Free Running is an exciting, high velocity tour-de-force that will keep both musicians and the audience on the edge of their seats. Inspiration for the work came from the pointillistic paintings of Seurat (who created images by using tiny spots of primary colors on his canvas) and from Parkour, a form of urban acrobatics in which participants, known as free runners, use the structures of the rural landscape to perform catlike leaps and sprints. The resulting creation is a non-stop piece of music made up of only staccato notes in a constant rhythm moving through different sections of the ensemble. Free Running was commissioned by the Troy University Symphony Band for the 2011 Alabama Music Educators Association Convention. Ideal for concert or festival use, it is guaranteed to leave the audience breathless! Dur: 5:10Recorded by the Troy University Symphony Band – Ralph Ford, conductor
