Fantastic Foster
During his short life (1826–1864), Stephen C. Foster wrote over 200 songs, including some that are still extremely popular today. A few of his songs are so well known that many believe they are American folk songs. In this arrangement, three of his most popular songs are arranged for young band. The entire band shares the melody of “Camptown Races,” which is followed by a tender setting of “My Old Kentucky Home” featuring the woodwinds and bells. Marche Militaire
One of the most familiar and popular marches ever written is Franz Schubert’s Military March No. 1. Schubert (1797–1828) was one of the most prolific composers of all time, having written symphonies, chamber music, piano works, and over 600 songs, yet he only lived to the age of 32. The march was originally written for piano four-hands, however, this arrangement for young band sounds as if it was first written for military band. Woodwinds, brass, and percussion all shine with fun and interesting parts that work well together. This arrangement is perfect for an opener or closer to any concert.SKU: AL36693 -

Mussorgsky!
Modest Mussorgsky (1839–1881) was a relatively unknown composer during his lifetime, but some of his works are among today’s best-known pieces in concert halls and films. His orchestral work Night on Bald Mountain was immortalized by Walt Disney in Fantasia, and Pictures at an Exhibition is one of the most performed pieces by symphony orchestras. Selections from these two pieces are wonderfully transcribed for young band in Mussorgsky! The arrangement begins with the mystical opening from Night on Bald Mountain which transitions to the hauntingly beautiful conclusion of that same work. To conclude is the “Great Gate of Kiev” from Pictures at an Exhibition which is one of music literature’s most inspiring moments. (3:30)SKU: AL29470 -
