Literally translated, the title “The Salute” was commissioned and dedicated to a band director of the same name. This original work opens with an expressive regal musical statement and develops into a driving, energetic frenzy initiated by the percussion section and followed by the entire ensemble. Utilizing subtle multi-meter and shifting pulse to enhance the excitement throughout, the work finishes with a suitably dramatic conclusion.
