This spirited march begins with a dynamic “echo” introduction that leads to the memorable main theme. All sections share the spotlight before transitioning into the contrasting B section with a minor, more lyrical theme. After an understated presentation, this section builds to a big cymbal crash that leads to a repeat of the A section. The coda features a variation of the echo introduction before ending in a dynamic fashion. The vitality of this new work makes Cedar Valley March an ideal concert opener that both the band and audience will enjoy.

Centennial March
This uplifting march begins with the clarinets presenting the melody over a single snare drum accompaniment. The textures increase as the melody is developed, leading to a heavier minor section featuring strong lines by the low brass and woodwinds. A modified “roll-off” by the percussion section leads to a seamless modulation and the final presentation of the melody. Columbia Gorge Suite is a composition with three distinct movements. The first movement is bold and brassy with fanfare-like motives throughout. Glacier Bay
Inspired by the majestic Alaskan landscape, Glacier Bay provides plenty of opportunities for dynamic and expressive playing by the young musicians. Following a brief introduction, the main theme is presented first by the trumpets and then by the low brass and trumpets in a lively and flowing manner. The active syncopated accompaniment patterns in the low brass and woodwinds provide an effective contrast to the melody. The B section of the piece moves smoothly into a stately, alla breve tempo with a clarinet choir making the first presentation of the melody. Following a very peaceful conclusion to the B section, an abbreviated restatement of the A section melody leads to the dynamic ending.SKU: AL24664 -

Grace Valley Overture
This energetic overture opens strongly with the low brass presenting a melodic arpeggio motive that recurs throughout the A section of the piece. Grays Harbor March
Here’s an energetic concert or festival opener by Steve Hodges. Grays Harbor March was commissioned by the George B. Miller Junior High School in Aberdeen, Washington. This exciting march was written in two distinct styles. Set in the minor mode, the driving opening will give your trumpets a chance to show off their rhythmic skill. Then, a graceful transition leads to the flowing middle section in the relative major, only to return back to the original theme for the fantastic finish.
