Chorale and March
Originally published in 1957, with five diverse movements, American composer J. Clifton Williams’ Symphonic Suite includes: “Intrada,” “Chorale,” “March,” “Antique Dance,” and “Jubilee.” A brilliantly conceived study in motivic repetition, development, and permutation, Douglas Wagner has selected the contrasting “Chorale” and “March” movements in this arrangement designed for successful performance by younger players. Drawn from the original edition, the two movements are presented unabridged, with the composer’s unique scoring colorations preserved whenever possible. A cherished new setting for the young band repertoire.SKU: AL35386 -

Fanfare and Allegro
This brilliant work was the first composition to be honored with the Ostwald award for original band literature presented by the American Bandmasters Association in 1956. Beginning with a dynamic flourish leading directly into the allegro section, the familiar rhythmic intricacies enhance the impressive nature of the work. A monumental contribution to the literature. Symphonic Suite
A suite of five movements with different material. Each movement is associated through the use of one theme. The first, “Intrada,” is fanfare-like, and the second, “Chorale,” features a trumpet solo. “March,” the third movement, is reminiscent of the opening material, followed by “Antique Dance,” which has a modal melody. The final movement, “Jubilee,” is clearly the most intense. The work is an Ostwald Award-Winning Composition of the American Bandmasters Association and is clearly a repertoire standard.
